Dr. Lale Guler is a Clinical Professor at the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. Prior to joining SMU, she taught at the University of Texas at Austin, Imperial College London, the University of Texas at Dallas, and Baruch College of the City University of New York. Her areas of expertise include corporate reporting, business sustainability reporting, and sustainable finance. She has published research on corporate governance and financial reporting issues in respected peer-reviewed academic journals.
She received the Deloitte Best Paper Award at an international business conference for her research demonstrating that firms can reduce the negative impact of managerial incentives on M&A outcomes by implementing a powerful governance mechanism: clawback provisions in executive compensation contracts. A recipient of the AAA Outstanding Reviewer Award and the Presidential Award for Teaching Excellence, Lale currently studies sustainable finance, gender diversity in top management teams, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues in organizations. She earned her Ph.D. at Texas A&M University.
